The story of Kempis Songster, who was given a mandatory life sentence without parole sentence for a murder he committed when he was 15 years old. He is forty-five now, still incarcerated, but recent Supreme Court rulings may give him a second chance. Produced by Samantha Broun and Jay Allison in collaboration with the Frontline Dispatch. This story – along with seven other Frontline pieces – was honored with a duPont-Columbia Gold Baton in 2019.
